Eucharistic Minister

Eucharistic Ministers assist in the distribution of Holy Communion at weekend Mass, holy days, and other special celebrations of the Eucharist. Before being trained for this ministry, those interested in becoming Eucharistic Ministers must have received the Sacrament of Confirmation. Several of our Eucharistic Ministers also serve the homebound and those in hospitals and care centers; this outreach requires additional training and shadowing.

Altar Server

Altar Servers assist the presider at Mass and help Mass go smoothly, effortlessly, and prayerfully. Any parishioner in grades 4 - 12 is invited and encouraged to be trained as an Altar Server.

Lector

Lectors proclaim the Sacred Scriptures and lead us in praying the intercessions during Mass. We strongly encourage our young people to actively participate in all areas of parish life. Getting involved as a Lector is one great way to connect with the St. Pius Community.

Usher & Greeter
Ushers and Greeters are our Ministers of Hospitality.
- Ushers welcome parishioners and visitors at the outside doors, assist with seating, take up the money collection, guide the communion route, and distribute bulletins after Mass.
- Greeters warmly greet people at each inside door, offering a friendly smile and handing out missalettes. After Mass they collect the missalettes and walk through the church looking for books and any lost & found items.
- Training for new Ushers and Greeters is done by shadowing an experienced Minister of Hospitality.

Sacristan

Sacristans help with the behind-the-scenes tasks before and after Mass such as unlocking the church doors, durning on the lights and sound system, setting the credence table, etc.

Children's Liturgy of the Word

Children's Liturgy of the Word is the sharing of God's Word during Mass with our children in grades 1 - 5.
